The composer shares, “In writing the whirring dusk, I was reflecting on the conflicting emotions and states of being that come with significant life experiences. Pain and joy, fragility and strength, disquiet and peace—they are visceral, they are entwined, and they evolve and transform through the moments and the months.” Fittingly, this duo ventures through several sections that explore related musical materials presented in different characterizations and varied settings of timbre, color, texture, and harmony.
