When I am Laid in Earth, Dido's Lament from "Dido and Aeneas" by Henry Purcell, arranged for Low Flute Choir by Cathi Marro. The work is built on a ground (or ground bass), which is phrase in the bass part that is repeated throughout the work. Familiar to most music school students, it is included in many classical music textbooks as a superior example of this compositional technique.
