This is the 2nd waltz from the 2nd Jazz Suite. It is now also known as the Suite for Variety Orchestra, after a piano score of the real 2nd Jazz Suite which was lost in World War II was rediscovered in 1999. The waltz was used by Stanley Kubrick in the film Eyes Wide Shut and has a famously lugubrious theme. A great showpiece for mixed-ability double reeds, with an optional bass oboe part.
