If you like to be challenged both as a performer and also perhaps as a listener, this imaginative piece will tick all the boxes. Fabregas uses the three instruments well, exploiting their various timbres to create the evocative sounds of the rainforest. The result is a well-paced work that would bring a totally different sound world into a chamber concert. Each movement would stand alone too so that's even better!
Voices of the Rainforest is a loose representation of a day in the life of the rainforest in Papua New Guinea. The work came about as a result of a life-long fascination and love for nature. A recording of actual sounds of insects, barking frogs, birds and the singing natives of Papua New Guinea rainforest was the final inspiration for the work.
