This popular 18th century Italian “Bagpiper’s Carol” is a glorious version of the Christmas story whose text includes mention of the star, wise men, angels, and shepherds. The melody has been incorporated into Christmas works by Handel, Berlioz, and others of that era. Its very lyrical style adapts well to flute choir tonalities and flows with comfortable expression.
