This is a really good album of Bach favourites mainly from the Anna Magdalena book which have sensibly arranged for four intermediate players. The March places the tune in the top part with the others in a supporting role. This is ideal if you have less experience players needing ensemble experience. There is a more equal feel in the remaining pieces, with the tricky leaps in the Menuet spaced in different octaves. Agile tonguing characterises the Musette but there is plenty of rhythmic unity to hold it all together. The Sarabande is slow and expressive and Polonaise fast and lively so there is plenty of contrast throughout the collection. This is a book that will last for ages which makes it a great investment!
