Telemann's Twelve Fantasias for Solo Flute are core repertoire and buying a good edition will always be worth the financial investment. This book is urtext which as faithful to the original score as possible with only well-researched and minimal editing. The printing is clear and easy to read, and there is an excellent description of the style and the characteristics of these pieces by the editor. Wonderful music, wonderful book, essential repertoire at its best.
The Fantasias for flute without bass address themselves less to the virtuoso than to the amateur flutist, who will find everything he wishes in these pieces. Although Telemann himself may have lost track of his works, the many flutists who have perfected their technique and musical interpretation with the help of these lovely Fantasias will never forget them.
