“Such good trios!”
On paper these trios look innocuous enough but a more careful inspection will reveal something completely different. Bartok's musical language comes through loud and clear with its unfamiliar harmonies and changing bar lengths surprising the uninitiated. Independent part writing will add to the challenge. The reward for all the effort is a great introduction to this wonderful musical landscape! They are so good!
Trios for Flutes contains selected transcriptions from well-known sets that Bartók wrote for children and young people: For Children, Children’s and Female Choruses, 44 Duos and Mikrokosmos. Some are based on folk melodies and some on original themes. The volume consists of 15 pieces. The collections serve to draw music students into the realm of a great genius of 20th-century music, while concurrently introducing them to the basic techniques of playing chamber music.
