This is the kind of flute trio that makes you want to find 2 other players to play it right now! The magnificent CD is a joy to listen to in its own right, and includes the playing of Fumet himself, Philippe Pierlot and Benoit Fromanger so the quality is very high. In 2 movements, the Andante opens with a meandering flow of sound as the three flutes intertwine in long phrases that are punctuated by pauses – it just ebbs and flows. The Allegro will need players who can really articulate – soft but incisive tonguing accompanies the rhythmic tune which is passed around the three players. It’s great stuff – highly recommended.
