There are four contrasting movements encompassing a wide range of emotions and musical challenges.
The work begins gently with the calm, almost child-like innocence of the first movement.
The second movement is fast and energetic with much humour.
The third is based on a melody I wrote for my father, which at the time I named 'Air for Dad''. The melody opens and concludes the movement, framing a more serious and tragic middle section.
The final fourth movement is filled with joyous humour and fast, wild energy bringing the work to a glittering and triumphant close.
