This is a book to gladden the hearts of all those who think that the old-fashioned tune is dead! A wonderful collection of folk songs from Great Britain and Ireland awaits you here with every single one a winner, and with arrangers of the calibre of David Sumbler, John Sands and Colin Fleming you can't really go wrong. Perennial favourites like Be Thou My Vision and Ye Banks and Braes are plain and simply stated, others such as All Through the Night and Annie Laurie have some variation of the theme to add further interest. The note and key ranges are of an intermediate standard, although My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean for example is easier to manage. My particular favourite is Golden Slumbers in which the flute has a lovely flowing counter melody in the middle section. This is a book to enjoy for all ages - tunes such as these are part of our heritage and won't date!
