“An amazing arrangement!”
It is a considerable skill to transcribe a piece such as Till Eulenspiegel for five flutes and make it sound as if it was really meant to be that way! All the lines and colour are here which means that it's quite difficult but what a great way to get to know a classic piece of music. You'll need technical dexterity and strong ensemble skills to give a successful perfomance but you'll bring the house down if you can do it - and you'll have a ball in the process!
"This arrangement of "Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche" is based on Richard Strauss' work for a huge orchestra with a broad variety of instruments. I dared to make this reduction for five flutes and one ratchet, because I believe that the crucial character of Strauss' hero, Till - a witty rogue, a mischievous jester of lively agility, as well as of south Bavarian charm and a happy disposition - matches miraculously the character of the flute!"
