“You can never have too much Chaminade”
If you love the music of Chaminade try these three delightful arrangements. Dano Joras is a flute player herself which means that the melodic lines are crafted to show the flute at it's most expressive. The Water Sprite has a beautiful lyricism and in true French tradition it is embellished to add a note of virtuosity. The playful nature of The Flatterer is charming and contrasts with a slighter darker central section. The closing Valse dashes along to create a whirlwind of a dance! Each one would stand alone but all three are so lovely it would be a treat to hear them all. You can never have too much Chaminade.
Cécile Chaminade was the first female composer to win the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur, the highest decoration in France. These Three Pieces by Cécile Chaminade were originally written for solo piano around the turn of the twentieth century. Quite difficult to perform on the piano, they lend themselves very well to a flute accompanied by piano. In addition to making an excellent suite, each of the pieces works just as well on its own.
