Here is another piece from Gary Schocker that will add an extra dimension to your concert programme. There is a real 'nightclub' feel, with the syncopated rhythms and melodies of that genre very much in evidence. This is Schocker though, so there's plenty of unexpected harmonies to savour, making this quite a meaty piece. 'Down and Dirty' has a real blues feel, with key and tongues slaps and varying vibrato adding to the texture. 'Slap That Thang' is faster with a driving bass and plenty of rhythmic interest. Both movements are great fun to play and should keep everyone happy!
