The Tango doesn’t often turn up for this combination and the use of percussion adds an extra dimension to the performance. This is a languid piece well written – have fun!
Written in 1999 at the invitation of Eugene Symphony Orchestra conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya for his innovative program Tango Lesson, which also featured tangos by Piazzolla, Gardel and Stravinsky, this piece blends tango style with elements of klezmer music. It can be heard on the Arrieu Wind Quintet CD World Tour.
