“Another interesting edition”
This erudite edition of the B minor Suite adds an academic dimension to this well known classic. The Preface sets out to help players of period and modern instruments, giving details of performance practice and annotating both the flute and piano parts accordingly. Although all this information can make the page look very busy, it does give a thorough insight into the analysis of Bach's thematic and harmonic material. There is even a section on how this Suite may have been choreographed, complete with diagrams. You do get a great deal of text for your money here, so even if you already own a copy of this piece, it would be worth the outlay if you are at all interested in authenticity.
A treatise on Bach's forms, dance models, and musical poetry, providing broad insights into his other overtures, suites and partitias.
