Southwold is a beautiful town on the Suffolk coast of England that has been totally untouched by what some regard as 'progress'. Even the railway ceased to operate in 1929! However, for those in the know, it is possibly the most relaxing place on the planet!
The Sonatina, like Southwold itself is built along traditional lines. Whilst being tonal and melodic, it also has strong rhythmic foundations. The movements are named after and depict three of my favourite parts of the town.
