Lasting 15 minutes, this is a unique piece for the modern oboist. The neo-classical first movement in a fugato style contrasts with the second, a rich jazz-influenced ballad. The last movement in a brisk 6/8 metre evolves from a minimalist beginning to an almost gospel-tinged exciting climax.
