This is a lovely sonata by JB Loeillet which deserves a wider audience. There is a real sense of unity right from the start as the theme in the opening Largo is also used in the second movement Allegro. The Adagio has had a florid and stylish decoration added by the editor and there is plenty of scope for more imaginative embellishment throughout the sonata, especially in the Largo. Altogether it's simple and effective!
