“Short and sweet!”
This is an unusual concerto. The 'Small' in the title does mean exactly that - this is short and sweet! Comprising three concise movements with a limited range of notes, this is a good introduction to the concerto idiom. The syncopated rhythms of the first movement add character and are repeated in the lyrical Largo. The closing Presto is a lively dance in 3/8. Although this is more difficult than it actually looks, this is still a very useful and pleasant work to try. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
