This lovely piece works so well. Esih really know how to write for the flute so everything sits in a friendly range with the rhythmic unity between various parts making it very useful for mixed ability groups. The opening Andante is beautifully atmospheric and leads to a piu mosso that bustles along energetically. This starts with wind sounds which are very straightforward to play. A shortened version of the opening returns to bring it all to a peaceful conclusion. This is a winner for sure!
You'll want this as a competition piece or for concerts, as it has contrasting sections - lyrical, then funky with some contemporary techniques, before ending in lyrical vein once more. Suitable for a range of abilities, as it can be tackled by a moderately capable ensemble, or enjoyed by advanced groups. It was composed in 2021
