This book is a joy even before you start playing. There is a Wibb sketch on both covers, a fabulous photo and brief biography inside, and the book is physically a high-quality product. The music's good too. Eight familiar Brahms waltzes have been arranged as only Wibb can, with tonal colour being really important throughout. In number 4 the two flutes leap around in thirds and all the control needed to sustain this belies the simplicty of the writing. The attention to detailed phrasing is clear to see and the addition of the alto flute adds an extra dimension to Nos 7, 8 and 15. The various instrumental combinations make the book even more interesting and the music wraps round you in a warm glow. Wonderful Brahms, wonderful Wibb!
