A generally simple yet lyrical character dominates the short compositions and predestines them for an arrangement for wind instruments. No 6 with its slightly frantic character and frequent offbeat notes is challenging, in particular rhythmically, but the difficulty level of the other pieces is best described as moderate. In the present arrangement, a colourful and variable sound was valued higher than an exact mapping of individual voices or staying true to octaves throughout. Similarly, the phrasing and dynamic markings of the original were modified and appended in the light of the capablilities of the wind instruments.
Six delightful pieces well arranged for Wind Quartet.
