Although this charming Sicilienne is perhaps the most famous composition attributed to the Austrian composer Maria-Theresia von Paradis, it may have been derived from a Violin Sonata by Weber. It was recently given a high profile performance at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, played by cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and is also well known to flute teachers, having featured in the Grade 4 syllabus. In this lilting flute ensemble arrangement in Bb major, all players get the chance to play sections of the tune, either individually, or doubled in octaves in the repeated sections.
