Serene is beautiful! It certainly lives up to its title with the electronic background creating a peaceful soundworld for the flute to inhabit. Set in the countryside with references to a little owl in a landscape, the piece uses time frames for the different sections. There are guidlines in the flute part to point you in the right direction but there is scope here to set your imagination free. There are no contemporary techniques to deal with but this is still something completely different. A treasure!
