This classic and much loved melody will aways be popular and here it is given an unusual fantaisie-like treatment. The opening sounds stunning played by a solo flute before the rest of the choir comes in with gentle triplets. The central section is more animated with stronger colours as the melody is developed before a return to the opening brings the music to a peaceful conclusion. This would certainly add some welcome calm to the centre of a flute choir concert and everyone loves it!
