Salty was originally commissioned by flutist Dan Parasky and clarinetist Amanda Morrison of PM Woodwind Project. Later, the piece was rearranged by the composer for flute and alto saxophone.
The word salty has a few of meanings, but in this interpretation the title refers to the slang description of a crusty, rude, bitter, or annoyed person.
