There are many versions of Mozart's Alla Turka for flute ensemble but this one will appeal to all those who love a different kind of challenge. The Latin swung rhythms are the thing here and capturing that laid back feel whilst keeping the ensemble really tight is not at all straightforward. The addition of an alto will obviously give more depth to the sound as well as extra security as it doubles the fourth flute rhythms. This is a piece to enjoy as it's a great play and if you like your classics reimagined this is for you!
The lively third movement of Mozart's 11th piano sonata, known as 'The Turkish March,' is a delightful musical journey that, much like this Latin arrangement, beautifully transcends any geographical or color-related associations.
