This light-hearted duo for flute and wooden percussion (marimba and woodblocks) was written as a gift for Chris Brannick and Sara Minelli. I imagined a kind of religious or courtship ceremony enacted by flamboyantly decorated birds, perhaps in a South American rainforest: it proceeds as a series of recurring verses and refrains, with a more reflective, lyrical coda.
