This is a lovely piece of music with beautiful harmonies, and I am delighted to have come across another interesting composer, whose work I had not previously known. Jāzeps Vītols [aka Joseph Wihtol] was a Latvian composer, who studied in Russia as a pupil of Rimsky Korsakov and where he himself became a professor at the Conservatory in St. Petersburg and taught Prokofiev. On returning to Latvia in 1918, he founded the Latvian Conservatory of Music, which was later renamed in his honour as the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
