There are 7 short pieces here, all of which are tuneful with some jazzy-type rhythms in easy keys. The piano part is also aimed at student level with the express intention of encouraging initial forays into the realms of chamber music. The accompanying CD is well played and has four tracks per piece - a performance plus the backing at 3 different speeds. Some of the slower speeds do represent breathing challenges, but generally this aspect is very well structured and will enable the players to have a really good sense of progression. I think this is a real winner - nice cover too!
In these 7 pieces, Daniel Hellbach uses various elements from pop and rock music. Catchy rhythms dominate the fast movements, while the slow parts are expressive and ballad-like.
