A big, dark castle in a quiet, starry night. The ghosts descend from the towers, initially hovering slowly, then turning faster and faster, finally chasing each other across the castle courtyard in spooky, nocturnal ecstasy. This idea is behind the composition, which was written in 2002 for the "Jugend musiziert" competition. Contemporary playing techniques are used to make the ghostly activity audible, but the guidelines are to be understood as suggestions and should encourage the musicians to devise their own ghostly activities.
