This work took a long time from conception to finish: about nine years. I promised it for Colin's high school graduation and I suspect that it may now too late for his doctorate! So here it is at last. It may be performed on modem flute as well as baroque flute (though the baroque instrument is the desired sound). The modern flutist must play somewhat more gently than usual, particularly the low d-flats which are produced on the baroque instrument by fingering d and "lipping" it down.
