This is such a beautiful piece! Gentle and so wonderfully French, the first movement passes the melody around all four players, creating a lovely texture. The second features a wistful melody on the flute, with the strings having a mainly accompanying role. The closing Vivace con spirito is both boisterous and quirky, with a changing quaver metre and harmonies that are typical of Casterede. This would make a great contrast to a Mozart quartet in a concert and everyone will love it!
