The structure of this creation for flute ensemble and harpsichord
(piano) is that of a concerto grosso; the concertino consists of a
piccolo solo, flute solo 1-4 and alto flute solo. The instrumentation
of the tutti is as follows: flute 1-3, alto flute and bass flute. The
harpsichord partly comes in concertantely, soloistically or in the
tutti. The title refers to a well known gospel melody, processed
in the three movements gospel, blues and ragtime and recurs as a cyclic theme.
