All Mel Orriss's arrangements work well and this is no exception. Piazzolla's evocative theme is given mostly to the first flute with some help from flute 2. The accompaniment is spread between the remaining flutes, creating a flowing line and just the right mood. It's gorgeous!
A sultry and senuous tango from the Argentine composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla. This piece was recorded with orchestra for the 1982 film Enrico IV, and is perfectly suited to the lyrical flexibility of a flute ensemble.
