This quirky piece has film music qualitiies with sweeping phrases and slushy harmonies in its outer sections. The middle allegro has a much stronger feel. Staccato semiquavers, changing metre and sequential patterns keep you on your toes here and the strange modulations can sometimes be a little awkward to negotiate. Not everyone will share my enthusiasm for this, but if you like something a little of the beaten track then this is definitely for you.
