The approach is based on the solid principles of good rhythmic skills, reading and listening, leaving the techniques of actually playing the flute to the teacher. There are very good and easily downloadable backing tracks which will also keep up the interest. If you're looking for a something specifically for a young student this book should definitely be on your radar.
