This book, the follow up to the popular 'Lyrical Flute Legends', continues to present interesting and engaging music to intermediate players. There are no arrangements in this volume so everything will be a voyage of discovery. The development of instrumental skills is, as usual, high on the agenda. At the beginning of the book Elena Kats-Chernin's charming pieces use longer phrases to improve breathing and nifty staccato for developing tonguing skills, and by the end Sally Greenaway's Dreams Dance at Dusk presents a more challenging musical vision. Gary Schocker has again contributed the lovely vignette ' Twilit', Swans on Cannon Hill by Jon Raybould gives an unassuming flute part an enigmatic flowing accompaniment and Shadows in the Starlight by Jonathan Russell is simply magical. It's all quite delightful.
