“Fabulously funky!”
There’s something quite extraordinary about a solo low flute and this piece just makes you smile! ‘Metrically Speaking’ is happy music with its changing metre and syncopated rhythms, ‘Whispering Sweet Nothings’ is dark and syrupy, and ‘Rap It Up’ does exactly that with the use of ‘cha’ and ‘tsss’ to give colour to the rhythms. It’s all fabulously funky!
Lowly Conversations by Paige Dashner Long was composed for the 2nd International Low Flutes Festival in Urayasu, Japan. It is in three charming movements that feature a solo low flute in C or G.
