“A lovely duet for 2 piccolos!”
This series of piccolo music edited by Jean-Louis Beaumardier produces some real gems and this is no exception. Popp's harmonic language is fairly straightforward and here it allows the two instruments to dance along nicely. It starts with a bold D major introduction leading to the main 'allegretto' theme which alternates between D major and D minor. The parts are mostly a third or sixth apart and often in rhythmic unison so it enables less experienced players to fully concentrate on the challenges of playing the instrument. Invaluable and great fun!
