Based on Liadov’s “Eight Russian Folk Songs,” this work is scored for double flute choir with piccolo, 6 C flutes, 3 alto flutes, and 2 bass flutes. (Opt. C part included for the first alto.) This is especially effective with flute choir and clarinet quartet, which does not require the use of alto or bass flute although optional parts are included. A wonderful programmatic work.
