This fascinating work for a large group will require a great deal of preparation to encompass all the various different types of notation that Sophie Dufeutrelle has devised to create this strange sound world. Indeed there are no normal sounds at all in 'Calm' which uses two groups of C flutes to weave it's spell. 'Snake' mixes textures with more complex sonorities outlining the animal's creepy undulations, and the Snake Dance is for the most part written conventionally in a 6/8 jig. You will be rewarded for your efforts though - this is a captivating work which will grab everyone!
