This short and deceptively simple solo flute piece by the Norwegian composer Egil Hovland is taken from a larger work about the Passion of Christ and a lament it certainly is. The melody captures the pathos of the story with a single, haunting phrase which seems almost hypnotic. It's perfectly written - beautiful!
