These Kickstarters appeared originally as a series of short motivational pieces, posted individually two or three times per week on FaceBook. They were my contribution to players during the difficult times of Covid-19, and I was amazed and delighted by the overwhelming response to them. This edition appears as the result of requests by many, many people for the mini etudes to be published as one volume.
Although each little etude has a clear technical objective, all the studies have a tuneful quality, as my starting point for selecting each one was the basic criteria of 'do I enjoy playing it?'. If I got bored, it didn't make the final cut. I t was necessary also for each etude to be of a particular length, so frequently I had to adapt or abridge the originals, and then I started to compose ever larger linking sections, as a response to the taste and preferences revealed in the comments of the players.
The studies include one in the Spanish Phrygian mode, one using Whole Tone scales, and two written in an Octatonic scale.
