Jazz Suite represents perhaps the first large-scale composition for flute and piano duo conceived in a pervasive, and - it is hoped - persuasive jazz idiom. It's overall musical language is characterized by syncopated and swing rhythms, modal and blues-inspired harmonies and melodies, with instrumental writing that at times vaguely recalls the music of Earl Hines, Benny Goodman and Dave Brubeck.
