This lovely Idyll by the little-known English composer Richard H Walthew is the title track from a CD of unfamilar English music by James Dutton. It's so beautiful, especially if you like that whimsical English style typical of the early twentieth century. The flowing melody, subtle changes of key, a short cadenza passage and an atmospheric ending are woven into an appealing rhapsody, all held together by the simple accompaniment. This is five minutes of pure delight for both player and audience.
