This is such a good piece of contemporary flute writing! The two stave notation that Aitken uses enables the player to fully understand how to achieve all the effects needed. There is also a clear description of fingerings and the other techniques used. The result is a work that is a little easier to play than it looks and takes you to a cold place. Perfect!
