This is a quiet, reflective and gently hypnotic piece and at no point should the dynamic exceed a mezzoforte. For almost the entire work the underlying pulse must remain metronomic but the music should never sound mechanical. It is important that the changes in tempo be strictly observed during the last fifteen bars.
