Emile Kronke could certainly write wonderful flute music and this delightful quartet is another fine example. Pitched at an intermediate level all four parts have simple keys and rhythms which look possible on the page and enable the focus to centre on the necessary ensemble skills for performance. His skill is in capturing the characteristics of Hungarian music in this pared down style and it really works. Everyone will love this quartet - Kronke at his best!
